This game is a conversion kit for Gottlieb's 1974 'Sky Dive'. In this listing are pictures of two different versions of playfield. One version has a blue upper playfield and, in the lower playfield, the two women are resting upon a blue area. There is also a blue left inlane. This playfield shows the artist's signature 'Doringo 80'. The other version has a crimson color in these areas, instead of blue, and we do not know if an artist's signature appears on it. We show a date of 1979 for this listing and we credit Mike Martinelli as the artist. Federico Croci, a collector in Italy, told us that he once had contacted Martinelli about this Doringo signature which he had also found on a different game. Martinelli told him that, back at the time, sometimes there were several works to be completed concurrently, often in the same night (especially when some trade show was approaching), and so he had some guys helping him, working together with him or totally alone. Sometimes these helpers just completed the colors, sometimes they did all of the work. Doringo's playfield is dated 1980. It's possible that the crimson version carries a 1979 signature to justify the date we gave to this listing. If so, this could help explain the change of color if, say, a second run of kits was produced in 1980. If anyone can provide us a close-up of any signature found on the "crimson" playfield, please contact us with your photograph(s), showing us that it is the crimson version. We are also seeking a close-up picture of the artist's signature on any backglass for this game.
