Unfortunately your main bonus maker is drops as you learn the game. Would suggest avoiding the middle at all costs until letters and drops are cleared.
Best advice on shots: aim for the middle drops first and then chip the outer ones
Also game is set up to be floaty. If shots are drifting left or right towards the inlanes, they will more than likely roll to the outlanes. Would suggest some light nudging if you recognize this
